Chromia, CHR and staking
With the CHR token, Chromia has its own utility and governance token. Node providers need to stake CHR tokens in order to operate their node. However, individual token holders can also stake their CHR through Chromia, Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. Through staking they can earn 3% APR and a share of the fees earned by their delegate. Node owners and stakers receive compensation rewards from a pool of hosting fees paid by dapps on the network.
Developers use the CHR token to lease computing power for their dapps from the network at a set fee. CHR serves as the lifeblood of Chromia, enabling developers to cover network costs while allowing users to interact without worrying about gas fees.
