Barren NFT Game

Game Structure

Barren consists of 2 complementary parts:

• A board strategy game (available now)
• A city builder (in development)

You’ll use your city to train units and then deploy these units to conquer the barren lands, find resources, and discover even stronger units.

Gameplay: Chess with a Twist

The first part of Barren is a chess-like strategy game with a key difference: instead of manually moving pieces around the board, your units move forward automatically. Your strategic decisions determine where each piece will go.

Like chess, each unit has a unique attack pattern. Unlike chess, each unit also has attack stats, HP, and unique skills, allowing us to create diverse and creative units.

The Block Mechanic

A unique feature is the Block action. When you block a unit, it gains:

• 1 shield
• Attack preference (blocked units attack first)
• If a blocked unit kills its opponent, it takes no damage from the defeated unit

In all other cases, attacks occur simultaneously. This mechanic adds significant strategic depth to gameplay.
