The CryptoAstrum Site and Smart Contract enable citizens of the World to claim and purchase the property of Celestial Bodies (Minor Planets/Asteroids, Stars and Exoplanets). Claims are registered as transactions on the Polygon PoS Chain, a layer-2 scaling platform for Ethereum, the largest smart-contract enabled blockchain on Planet Earth! By claiming the property of a Celestial Body, you are publicly, indelibly and permanently, but anonymously, declaring your ownership on the said property via the blockchain. Just like any other property, once claimed or purchased, it can be sold at a later time.

The “Outer Space Treaty”, which was adopted by the United Nations’ General Assembly on 19 December 1966, states that celestial bodies are “not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty”, but does not mention any such prohibition for private individuals. Moreover, not all countries are signatory of the treaty and it is furthermore questionable if countries on Earth have any legal authority on determining the ownership status of any extraterrestrial bodies.
